Ԫ Tracy Knofla: Thriving In Chaos

Create a "Culture of Thriving!"

What is your relationship with your supervisor and co-workers? Do you communicate with each other and provide support to one another?  Are you encouraged to help your co-workers and to ask questions? Do you look forward to going to work?  If the answer is yes, you probably work in a "culture of thriving."

Simply put, a "culture of thriving" is one that encourages employees at all levels of the organization chart to feel the importance of their position.  Their opinions are asked and acted on.  They are encouraged to ask workmates for help and view accepting help as mission critical.  During tough times, employees in a "culture of thriving" trust the information that comes their way and are willing to give management the benefit of the doubt.

A "culture of thriving" doesn't just happen.  It takes intentionality on the part of management.  Yet, it's not just management's issue. Cultural changes start with individuals in their own work group.  It starts with YOU making a commitment to better communication, fewer snarky comments, accepting help, and helping others when you can. If you are in a management position, look for ways to interact with your employees that will allow them to feel valued.  If you are not, forward this thriving tip to a co-worker who doesn't receive them and make a pact that together you both will start to create a new culture - one that helps you both thrive.

Have a great day!
