Ԫ Tracy Knofla: Thriving In Chaos

You Did a Great Job!

I received two compliments today.  They were unrelated to one another, however, they were both related to the work I do.  Normally when I receive a compliment I say a gracious "thank you" and go about my business.  I do not dwell on them and usually do not speak of them to anyone else.

Today was different though.  As I write this I am in the middle of preparing for an upcoming presentation that is going to be a departure from my normal work and is, quite honestly, freaking me out. I often create new programs, but this one is really different from how I generally operate so I am more than a bit apprehensive.

And then I received two compliments.

Imagine the difference this has made in my confidence moving forward with this project.  It even made me smile at odd times today as my mind drifted back to the unexpected gems, but mostly it jump-started my "mojo" and got me back on track.

So the questions for you are:  Who have you complimented lately and did you do it in a way that really got through to the other person?  Did you minimize a compliment given to you recently when you could have used it to bolster your confidence?   Do you trust other people when they do compliment you?

Most people need to know that their work has value. Take the time to tell someone that you think they are doing a good job. Accept kind words from others gracefully and believe them.  Our words really do have the power to change some vital aspect of another person's life.

Have a great day!
Tracy
