Pamper Yourself
I recently spent a day at a spa as a guest of my good friend, Lori. OMG! It was amazing! We spent the day in fluffy white robes while staff members offered us pampering services. Cell phone use was not allowed and we had to use our "inside voices." There were facials, massages and body wraps, as well as yoga, aerobics and pilates classes. In between treatments you could sit in the whirlpool, sauna or steam room, or my favorite spot, these amazing chaise lounge chairs in the relaxation room. At the end of this spa day I was "spent" in the very best way!
Throughout the day I kept saying to myself, "I REALLY needed this." At one point I even got emotional about how much I needed to feel this good and this relaxed and this cared for.
And then I wondered, "Why have I been saving it all up. Why did I have to be pampered and cared for by someone else? Why wasn't I doing it for myself on a regular basis? Why is it that doing nice things for myself always falls to the bottom of my own to-do list?" I don't have children - so I can't even use the excuse that, "I have to tend to their needs first"- as I know many of you reading this do. Why then, do I think that doing something nice for myself has to be a special event? One that I pay a lot of money for? Do you ever ask yourself these questions?
It feels nice to be pampered, but better to live your life in a way that allows you the time and space to pamper yourself. It's about your choices. Turn your phone off for a bit. Find a comfy, quiet spot to take a nap or read a magazine. Give yourself a facial - recipes abound on how to do it at home. Buy yourself a big fluffy robe and have lunch in it - you will feel amazing. Put yourself higher on the list. We all need to feel good and special. It's what renews and enables us to give to others.
Go schedule time on your calendar to pamper yourself.

p.s. There were men at the spa. They seemed to be having a great time too. Men, don't forget to pamper yourself as well.
