Make Peace with Time
Make Peace with Time
Do you feel guilty about how you use your time? Do you live in the land of "I coulda, woulda, shoulda?" Stop beating yourself up about what you could, would or should have done on any given day and focus on what you HAVE done. Except for the rainy or snowy Sunday afternoon spent on the couch, I am willing to bet that you accomplish a lot during the course of your day. Is it as much as you want? Probably not! But only because you have unrealistic expectations about what you can accomplish given your:
Available time
Interruptions
Child's health
Traffic
Personal energy
On-going workload
Help or lack of it from co-workers or family
Etc, etc, etc!
Instead of always feeling bad about what you don't get done, focus on what you do get done. Any given day can bring you several real accomplishments, including:
Getting the kids to school on time
Having a healthy meal ready
Providing support to a co-worker who was overwhelmed
Finishing a project three days early
Having a good laugh with your staff members
Juggling your tasks so that you can see your child's soccer game
Being able to leave the stacks on your desk because you know they will be there tomorrow!
Life really is made up of time. Choose to feel good about the time in your life!
Time for me to go throw the ball for my dog! It makes both of us feel great!
