Change of Address
During the holidays I was fortunate enough to receive many holiday cards. I am very good about sending out cards - especially during vacations and holidays. I am the fastest postcard writer I know. I typically keep the cards I receive. It is one of my biggest compulsive behaviors. I have holiday cards from my college days. Learning to let go of compulsive behaviors will be a subject of a future tip. However, today's tip is about organization.
Now, having received all of the cards, I keep the envelopes for those addresses that I know have changed. I am very good at keeping the envelopes. It's the next step that makes me crazy - you know, recording the new address into the address book. For some reason, really, no good reason, I have trouble with this step. So much so, that I couldn't send out a couple of cards this season because I couldn't find where I put last year's new addresses.
I have a computerized system that should make this easier, but it doesn't. It's not about the system, it's about me. I know that I want the most up-to-date addresses, but the process of making it happen eludes me. Am I alone here?
Let's challenge ourselves this season to make sure that we have noted
the change of address for our friends who have moved. Our deadline
is
May 1st. This should be enough time. If you are good about this,
write me and give me your secret. If you are not good at this, do it with
me.
Of course, I am talking about mailing addresses, but you probably have something else that needs the same type of attention I am referring to. Something that if you do it in a timely manner, will make you feel better or make another task easier. Figure out what it is for you, and get it done by the May 1st deadline. I know I'll feel better next time I write my vacation postcards knowing that the addresses are all up-to-date. It's a small thing that will make a huge difference some other time this year.
Happy transcribing!
