Pay Attention to the Current Season
As I write, winter keeps reminding me of its
presence by dusting us with more snow. That would be fine if
this were early January, but it’s almost March and time
to move on! Before the last snowfall, I did however, spy the
fruits of my November labor--the sprouts of my daffodils and
tulips! Spring is on its way!
Ask me my favorite season and I will tell you summer, spring,
or fall. Not winter! I love 3 out of the 4 seasons and can
tolerate winter for only a short time.
I try to stay in touch with the current season as a way to
thrive in the chaos. When I pay attention to the way the earth
changes around me, I am always amazed. Whether it’s the
crocuses emerging from the snow, the butterflies alight in
my garden, or the blazing colors of fall, I find that there
is comfort in the changing of the seasons and in the predictability
of these changes. You may mark the seasons by snowplowing,
weeding, and raking--or you may see these as just additional
to-do list items.
Let me encourage you to find the beauty in each season and
let it bring a sense of peace in your fast-paced life.
