Stop Procrastinating
I started this tip three months ago! And then my house needed cleaning, and the lake called my name, and the dog needed a walk and the...
you get the idea!
I really like the silly office poster that says: Procrastination on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part.
I need this sign for myself. Procrastination brings chaos into our lives. ENOUGH SAID!
When we wait 'til the last minute to do something, we stress out our body and mind, as well as one or two people around us.
Lots of people will say to me But Tracy. I work best under pressure. To which I reply, That's only because you never give yourself a chance to do otherwise!
Procrastinators waste more time identifying reasons NOT to do a project than they would use JUST DOING the project.
You non-procrastinators are nodding your head right now, aren't you! Somehow you have found a way to discipline yourself to get working on your project soon after it is assigned. You fold your laundry right out of the dryer and probably respond to all of your emails right away as well.
One of the best time management techniques I have heard of helps short circuit the procrastinator in all of us. Try this: Set a START date instead of a DUE date. Let some of that adrenaline flow at the beginning of your project instead of the end. See if it can make a difference for you.
Email me right away and let me know if it works for you. But of course, you can also email me in three months if you need to!
