Sweat the Small Stuff
We've all been told not to "sweat the small stuff." I've
even said it
myself. However, upon further reflection, I TAKE IT BACK! I want you to
sweat the small stuff! Pay attention to the details. Make sure the i's
are dotted and the t's are crossed.
Traveling as extensively as I do, I realize the importance
of "the small
stuff." For me, it might include a welcome basket at my hotel, an
email
about a local attraction to visit, or an unexpected voice mail
from
someone I have been missing. My life is mostly a series of "small
stuff," and yours probably is too!
The small stuff distinguishes a great day from a good day
and an
excellent job from a good job. The small stuff tells others about
us and
what we value. The small stuff builds or diminishes our credibility.
The small stuff - the details, are vitally important in
our everyday
life. Yet one of the most reported problems today is making the
time to
identify the small stuff in advance. We are usually made painfully
aware
of their importance when we have missed a project deadline, left
our
child waiting after school, or when someone else is inconvenienced
by
our inattention. Often, chaos reigns when we skip the small stuff.
Forget conventional wisdom. Make time to sweat!
